Day 241 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: Write about a train headed to a mystery location.
Erin: Being on that rickety train under normal circumstances would be intimidating. Waking up to the rust bucket barreling forward when the last thing I remembered was my bed was terrifying. The other people around me looked even less confident than myself. I was determined to team them up and take down the engineer. We could come up with a plan and it was going to be one heck of a ride.
Shannon: My eyelids were heavy as I opened them to see a foggy view of a bright light from the window my head was resting against. I picked my head up, not remembering how I got here as I turned my head to see a stranger sitting next to me. He was sleeping too. Once my eyes could focus a bit more I deducted that we were on a train, and I didn’t recognize a single face around me.
“Hey, are you awake,” a voice behind me questioned, and I twisted by torso to look back at another stranger. “Do you know where we’re going?”
I shook my head, apologetically, “I don’t even know how I got here.”
She sighed, and leaned back again, “Me neither.”
Where is the ticket for?
It was a few months before there was anything Accords related to interfere with August and his group. He wasn’t naive to think they wouldn’t be found out eventually, but the hero was aware that nothing immediate took place, so Stark must have kept his promise.
But then, while the group was all separated and going about their business, they all had a similar experience.
Rick was ambushed. He didn’t even have time to react.
Finn was ‘arrested’ on the street for ‘vandalism.’ He protested until he realized they were not on their way to a station.
Nikki was with Jacey. They were in Jacey’s home for a girls’ night. But neither remember how they fell asleep.
Josh was at the library, when a ‘fan’ of the same book as him wanted to talk in a different part of the library. Josh was on alert, and had a few bruises to match his opponents.
August was the only one where he was told who was confronting him; SHIELD. With that, and a couple secret guns trained on him, they escorted him to a car, where he was knocked out.
They all woke up in a container with all their hands cuffed. Jacey and Finn have special cuffs. The container rattles and bumps along.
“We’re on a train,” Nikki points out.
“Yep,” Josh gasps. Jacey is closest to him, so she looks over his bruising. He brushes her off not long after though, because he insists he’s fine.
August stands up, walking to the train car door. He swerves a few times as the train turns. He looks through the window, revealing a couple people in uniforms.
“Who has us?”
“SHIELD,” August states.
The group goes quiet, looking at either everyone in turn, or nothing at all.
“…It was bound to happen, right?” Finn asks.
August sighs, “Yeah…” He slides to the floor and thunks his head against the metal wall, “it was going to happen. We just didn’t know when.”
