Day 297 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: Write about a good dream as if it were a nightmare.

Erin: My dream date followed by my dream proposal should have had me waking up smiling. However, I woke up shaking and breathing heavily. Even in my sleep I knew it was him and I knew how we would end.

Shannon: It was awful it all started with this puppy sitting in the middle of a sea of pillows. I wanted to look away, but I couldn’t stop staring. It was terrifying. Then it started walking towards me with huge eyes and I couldn’t run away. I was paralyzed in place. Right as it started attacking me with his tongue I finally woke up, thank goodness.

Make something right sound wrong.

Day 296 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: Write about someone missing from a team.

Shannon: “It doesn’t matter,” I heard Katrina mumble just loud enough for everyone to hear before stretching her other arm crossed her chest.

“What? But she was being ridiculous,” Emily looked for confirmation from the rest of the group.

“It’s all just stupid. The stuff you’re always bitching about. Melissa isn’t here, she’s gone. She’s not coming back, and I can’t listen to it anymore. I want to play ball to get my mind off of what happened, so can you please shut up,” Katrina was shouting by the end as she picked up a ball and started smacking it into her glove.

Erin: It wasn’t losing our star player that made us lose the game. It was the loss of our confidence that cost us the win.

Who’s the missing piece.

Day 295 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: Write about a nightmare.

Erin: I have a reoccurring dream where my friend pushes me off of a ledge. Normally I wake up mid fall. This time I didn’t, and I’m starting to worry it wasn’t a dream.

Shannon: I had a bad dream the other day where I was trying to get away from a dark figure that was chasing me. I couldn’t lose him and he got better at hunting me down as the dream progressed. I was making all of these illogical moves until I was finally caught. Then I woke up, before I could even see what he wanted.

Let’s write a bad dream.

Day 294 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: What is your character’s dream job?

Shannon: Professional Organizer

Erin: She’d like to be the person that comes up with commercial ideas.

How does your character want to make a living?

Day 293 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: What are your character’s favorite art supplies.

Erin: Crayons and puff balls.

Shannon: Oil pastels, crayons, a sketchbook, and glitter, lots of glitter.

Time for your character to get artistic.

Day 292 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: Your character believes they are being followed.

Shannon: Lately I’ve felt weird like there’s this presence that’s following me. I don’t think it’s a person, because if it is I never see them. Maybe it’s a ghost, or a guardian angel. Either way I never feel alone, and that’s not bad feeling.

Erin: When I was younger I just had a feeling that I was always being watched over. It wasn’t until I was older that I started to see her. My mother. She was gone and I wasn’t denying that. But her spirit was with me. No one would believe me, so I kept what I saw and heard to myself. For all they knew I was a motherless child, but at least I was sane.

Day 291 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: What does your character do right before falling asleep?

Erin: Prays.

Shannon: Runs through a list of everything she has to do tomorrow.

Bedtime. 

Day 290 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: What does your character do right after waking up?

Erin: She presses the snooze button and goes back to sleep.

Shannon: She cuddles her dog for a bit then drags herself out of bed.

Time to get up. 

Day 289 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: What trait did your character loose as they grew up.

Erin: Blind trust.

Shannon: Courage.

Explain the change. 

Day 288 of 365 Days of Writing Prompts: Write one character from seven perspectives…today is his/her pet. 

Shannon: I love Jake. He let’s me sleep in the bed with him, he takes me on walks, and feeds me food under the table. He never calls me a bad dog, and he gives the best belly rubs. I can’t wait until he comes home.

Erin: I don’t think he loves me very much. He always leaves and when he does come home he’s always talking and playing with that little black rectangle he has. The little one with the brown hair pays me much more attention and feeds me most days when he forgets. I think she’s my new owner. I at least hope she’s my new owner.
